But given the competition in the mobile phone and broadband market, which provider should you entrust with your livelihood?
As part of our mission to inform consumers of the best NZ has to offer, Canstar Blue canvassed the opinions of Kiwis who use a mobile phone service for their business. We also surveyed those who have an internet account for their business, across a range of categories, to measure their satisfaction.
Skinny: Most Satisfied Customers | Small Business Mobile Phone Providers Winner
To decide which small business mobile provider offers the best level of customer satisfaction, each was rated across the following categories:
- Billing
- Customer Service
- Network Coverage
- Plan Flexibility
- Value for Money
Coming out on top is Skinny. It’s the second straight win for Skinny, who took out this year’s award with the only 5 Star rating for Overall Satisfaction. Not too far behind was 2Degrees, which scored mostly 4 Star ratings.

To decide which small business internet provider offers the best level of customer satisfaction, each was rated across these categories:
- Bill Clarity
- Clarity and Flexibility of Contract
- Customer Service
- Network Performance
- Value for Money
2Degrees took out the win. It is the only small business provider in our survey to earn a 5 Star Overall Satisfaction rating. 2Degrees earned further 5 Stars in every category, except for Bill Clarity, for which it earned a 4 Star rating.
What Customers’ Want
In much of Canstar’s research, Customer Service is consistently the highest driver of satisfaction. And it was no different in this latest research for our Small Business Mobile Phone ratings: Customer Service (33%) just topped Value for Money (27%) as the top driver of satisfaction. The same results appeared in our Small Business Broadband providers category: a third (34%) said Customer Service was the most important factor in their overall satisfaction with their broadband provider. Second was value Network Performance at 25%.
