What’s on offer?

The SuperGold deals on offer from Kiwi telcos vary between Gold Card exclusive plans, and discounts on existing plans. You can see an overview below:

One (broadband)

SuperGold members can get an exclusive fixed wireless broadband plan in the form of One’s Gold Plan. The plan costs $40 a month and is fixed for a 12-month contract.

It includes:

• 60GB wireless data
• Free modem
• Landline
• Free calls to national landlines
• Bring your existing phone number with you

While this is the cheapest broadband plan on offer from One, it’s worth noting that 60GB of data isn’t a lot. When looking at One’s regular broadband plans, the smallest option is 300GB for $55 ($45/month for those with a One mobile plan). Although if you want to add a home phone that’s an extra $10.

So while this plan is cheaper than the next cheapest option from One, you’ll need to be sure that 60GB of data per month is enough for you. If so, while it may not be a great deal in dollar-per-GB terms, it might be a great deal for your needs.

Look over your latest broadband bill or ask your current provider about how much broadband data you use in a month.

Spark credit

SuperGold members can get an exclusive credit offer from Spark with a Call Screen purchase.

The Spark SuperGold deal is $30 Spark account credit (to use on your phone or broadband plan) when you purchase a Call Screen phone ($139).

Call Screen is a cordless home phone that automatically prompts unknown callers to record their name before your phone even rings. This blocks most annoying calls because scammers, unwanted business callers and auto-dialing machines either can’t or won’t record their name. This means your phone won’t ring. If the caller records their name it’s announced when you answer, so you can decide to accept or block the call.

2degrees (phone & broadband)

2degrees offers a range of discounts for SuperGold members. You can get:

• $10 off any Pay Monthly phone plan
• $5 off any broadband plan
• an additional $10 off your broadband if you take out both a pay monthly and broadband plan

I don’t have a SuperGold card, how can I get one?

When you get your superannuation, the government will send your SuperGold card to you. So, in most cases, you shouldn’t need to apply for your SuperGold card. You do need to apply for the Superannuation benefit, however, which you can do up to 12 weeks before your 65th birthday. You can get more information here.

If you are not eligible for Superannuation, you may still be eligible for a SuperGold card if you are 65+ and a New Zealand resident. You can apply here.
